The Department of Finance improves its Finance Preparatory Program (FPP) according to the comments, suggestions, and feedback we accept from our students.
This workshop should be a requirement for every CCSU Business Administration major. Most companies require knowledge of excel...intro to MIS has only offered a fundamental excel knowledge. This workshop should be a little longer than 5 hours and should not contain more than 10 or 15 students so that there is an opportunity for every student to ask questions.

Amazing workshop! Even if you already know a lot, you'd be surprised by the number of small skills you can pick up to help improve your everyday work. This workshop goes beyond your average understand of excel and really prepares you for whatever career path you may choose. The only drawback is, I wish there was more time because 5 hours is not enough.

This was a fantastic workshop. With a small amount of participants there were chances for one-on-one interaction with the instructor. I feel it necessary that every business major in CCSU be required to take an advanced excel modeling class. This are the skills that are necessary to suceed in the "real world." I think that we need more than 5 hours to get the most out of the workshop, perhaps make it a 2 day workshop.

I think this class is absolutely necessary for all business majors and I think they should somehow work this into the curriculum. This is a good skill to have especially when looking for jobs. I have found on my hunt for jobs that many employers specifically look for excel skills. Some even list in specific what excel skills they are looking for; vlookup, macros, filters, and pivot-tables were very common. If I did not take this class I would not know what these were nor how to perform them. This is a hands on class that is vital to the success of many students. Excel is not going away and is used in the real world, so preparing students in how to use it now is what CCSU should be doing.

This class was great! Last semester I was talking with a fellow student about the fact that employers need more hands on knowledge of excel from their potential employees. Then this summer I happen across a class that does just that. This class is must for those in the business department. I sincerely hope that this class is picked up for a spot in the curriculum so other students can benefit from the hands on skills that I have received from the class. Hats off to CCSU for attempting this class I hope it sticks.

I had a great experience taking this course over the summer. Learning more in those five weeks than the past four years in excel I highly recommend that this course become a permanent offering by CCSU. Gaining direct experience by using the software and having a small classroom setting with one on one interaction with the teacher allowed me to learn at a higher rate as well as realize how little I actually knew before about excel. Thank You.

I found this course to be one of the most applicable classes I've taken. Every day I learned something new. You leave class feeling like your time was spent worthwhile. CCSU needs more courses such as this that emphasize real world skills and hands on work. The best part about this course was the small class size which allowed the professor to attend to each student individually. This is very important since it is easy to fall behind without one-on-one instruction. I felt this course was an excellent way to complete my finance degree at CCSU.

The financial modeling course would be a great addition to the finance courses offered at CCSU. After taking the class I feel that I am much more prepared to enter the corporate finance world. I think it should be a required course for all finance majors and will give students more confidence in what they have learned. Financial Modeling with Excel helps solidify skills learned in the undergraduate coursework and allows students to apply these skills to real world applications. This course was difficult and tedious but definitley the most important class I have taken at CCSU thus far.

I currently use excel every day at work and this course was very helpful in showing me the “if” “vlookup” and data validation features of excel. I feel that this course is really necessary for students because excel as well as access are the most highly used programs in Corporate America. Also, having this course in a resume will give students a better advantage when getting evaluated for a job. I wish this course was more than 5 hours because there is so much to learn in excel.

I've taken excel classes before and thought that I knew pretty much everything there was to know already but surprising learned a lot from this class, I had no previous knowledge of any features in excel that were finance related. The course was pretty easy to follow and had a lot of useful tools to learn. Even though I learned a lot, I'm sure there is more we did not even cover and my only regret was that this course was not longer.

This was a very beneficial workshop and I will definitely take what I learned with me for the rest of my life. The course was very easy and straight forward and the best part is is that since the workshop was very small, there was a big opportunity for one-on-one interaction with the instructor. I have already used what I learned at work and have wowed my managers with the presentation and accuracy of my excel documents. I am looking forward to the Advanced class whenever it will be offered next!
